Senior Year
08/28/16
I started attending Lindsay High School in 2013 and I truly believe that I’ve changed drastically over the years. I remember the first day of my freshman year as if it was just yesterday. As a freshman I was thrilled to start high school and make tons of memories. One thing I will never forget about my freshman year is being placed in a Geometry class with a bunch of upperclassmen. As class started, a senior in my class specifically told me, “High school may be fun and all but DO NOT slack off.” At that moment I didn’t really take his words into consideration because I had no idea what to expect. All I was really looking forward to was playing sports and being involved with the school. I didn’t realize how easily it was to fall behind and hard to get back on pace. Although, throughout my years at LHS I’ve managed to stay on task and definitely prioritize my work.
Sadly, I had to transfer out to Fresno unexpectedly the middle of my junior year which really affected me in several ways. I was going to leave my family, friends, school and had no choice but to make the best of it and try to adjust to the different grading system. I struggled a lot but I didn’t give up. I did what I had to do to finish the year strong and prepare myself for my senior year. I wasn’t expecting to be able to move back and finish my year at LHS, when suddenly during the summer I was told I had the choice to come back, so I did.
At this point, I knew transferring back wasn’t going to be easy because of my grades. Yet, nothing in life is easy and you must work hard for what you want. With the help of my counselor, she was able to help me with my classes and get me enrolled back at LHS where I belong. Now that I’m here, my main goal is to stay focused, stay up to date with my work, and strive for greatness. I’m happy with my schedule and I know I’ll do fine in each and every class with the help of my teachers. I’m currently on pace in all my classes and planning to keep it that way. As for my senior project, I should be starting on my job shadow soon.
Furthermore, what I really enjoy about my senior project is being able to compare myself to my previous years at LHS and see how my mindset towards things has changed over the years. I’m really looking forward to making this year the most memorable and preparing myself for my new fresh start in life. I will stay focused in school, give it my all, stay on pace, pass all my classes, enjoy my last year in high school but most importantly walk with my class of 2017 and get my diploma.

One Step Closer
11/16/16
It’s now November of 2016, 2 months away from our 1st semester ending and 7 months away from graduation. I’m actually really proud of myself for managing to stay on pace in all my classes and keep myself focused these past few months. Even though Math can get a little confusing at times, I do what I possibly can to get my work done and turned in on time. My senior project overall is coming together nicely and I’m counting down the days until my exit interview. It amazes me how fast time goes by without even realizing it but soon enough my years at LHS will be over.
As for my job shadow, I truly enjoyed being able to spend a day with a couple Spanish teachers and really focusing on their own unique way of teaching. I got to compare and contrast one another and learned that although it’s the same subject it’s not going to be taught the same way. There are several different strategies teachers use, that they believe will benefit their students the best.
I’m glad that our school provides us with these kinds of opportunities, because we’re able to experience what our future could be like and get more information on how to get there. I really enjoyed everything about being able to job shadow Mrs. Perez from El Diamante High School, she was so kind and helpful that my mind is completely set into becoming a Spanish teacher. I’m ready to start my new journey after high school and overcome anything and everything that comes my way to get where I want to be. I’m also excited to experience new things and meet new people that have intentions of going places and doing things, simply wanting more out of life.
As of right now, I’m really looking forward to attending COS for the next two years. I’m motivated to continue moving forward and getting a further education that I know will benefit me in the future but first it is important I walk with my class and get my diploma. Half of my senior year is almost over and I honestly couldn’t be any happier. Even though things can get stressful at times, hard work and dedication always pays off. What excites me the most about almost being done with high school, is being able to go to Disneyland for Grad Night and spending time with my peers that I've grown up with. Then soon realizing that I won’t be able to experience anything like this ever again as it all remains a valuable memory. I do believe Senior year is the most important, memorable year of high school and we should all cherish every moment of it, as we watch each other succeed and make our way through the year motivating each other to be able to earn our diplomas together as a class.

Almost There
12/22/16
I’m now down to my last month of 2016 as a senior, and I couldn’t be any more thrilled and relieved. These past months have been great, as I kept myself on task, made tons of memories and surprisingly managed to stay stress free. I’m really looking forward to my last semester of highschool but most importantly the 3 week christmas break that will give me extra time to finish any unfinished tasks and get a head start on new assignments. I will also take this time to focus on myself, spend time with family and take a break from school.
As I look back to the beginning of the semester, the activity that I enjoyed the most was homecoming week. I really enjoyed dressing up and helping set up for our homecoming rally. Also being able to support my friends that were being nominated was fun and exciting. I got to make posters for them and watched them play fun activities during lunch in the quad. I believe that homecoming week is by far one of the funnest and most memorable school activities of the year, I really enjoyed seeing the entire school get together and participate.
Furthermore, I’ve came to realize how important it is to stay on task your senior year but also enjoy every minute of it because you only live the high school experience once. Other than school work, level 4’s and a high GPA, I believe high school is a place where you’re able to be with friends, participate in school activities and create everlasting memories.
I can’t wait to come back and officially complete the first semester of my senior year. It’s a step closer to graduation and earning my diploma. Knowing that I’ve made it this far and accomplished my goals throughout the years has made me feel relieved because all the hard work that I put in is slowly paying off. I’m really looking forward to 2017 because that will be the year I end my 4 year journey but also begin my new one.

I'm Out
3/12/17
A lot has changed over the past few months since my last journal. I passed all my classes first semester, got a new job, and moved houses. I was so proud and relieved after my report card came in the mail and saw my scores. I can't believe the last, first semester of high school is finally over. Other than school, I managed to get a new job which I am also proud of. I work at Mcdermont Field House which has really helped me improve my social skills. As for my new home, after 9 years of living in Lindsay I finally left. I moved to Tulare after waiting 6 months for my home to be built.
Living in Tulare is a benefit because I won't have to drive long distances to get to school since I will be attending College of the Sequoias. I'm excited for my future and ready to start college. I'm prepared and motivated to achieve all of my goals these upcoming years. I have my mind set on who I want to become in life. I believe it's important to do something you love for the rest of your life rather than settling for something easy that you don't look forward to everyday.
After 4 long years, my journey at LHS is finally coming to an end. I'm down to 3 classes which I am certain I will pass. I will continue to do my work and have it turned in on time. I will also fix my attendance and try my absolute best to get to school on time for the last 3 months in order to walk with my class. Time goes by like a blink of an eye. I really enjoyed my time in LHS, and I will never forget that "Once a cardinal, always a cardinal."
